
They were simply heading home from class when the road turned into a dividing line between before and after. On the highway near Nuporanga, a bus of University of Franca students collided with a truck, and in a matter of seconds, twelve lives were gone, twenty-one others hanging in the balance.
The metal could be cleared, the glass swept away, but the silence left behind has settled over the region like a permanent fog.
